Abstract

The family separations of mostly Central American asylum seekers at the U.S. border in the summer of 2018 elicited a strong compassionate response from many political and religious sectors in the U.S. with swift policy-changing results. A once-immigrant child reflects on both her story of emigration and the economic and political reasons for the emigration of many of the families at the border. Questions are raised on our involvement and responsibility in the continued circumstances that forced the families to flee their countries.
